Director & Principal Solicitor (she/her)

I’m the owner of Sunstone Legal.
Since I was first admitted to practice as a lawyer in Western Australia in 2008, I have experienced many different ways to practice law and run a law firm.
What has stood out the most for me looking back is how important having the space to be yourself is.
This meant that when it came time to expand, I made the conscious choice to do things differently. Everyone at Sunstone Legal has the power to choose the work they do, where they work from, what hours they want to keep and who they spend time with. It’s the ultimate in flexibility.
When it came to choosing titles for Hugh Cahill and Melissa Gordon, I thought King and Queen of Death were spot on, but we’ve ended up settling on something slightly gentler, of ‘Principal Solicitor’. This is a reflection of their experience, seniority and practice as a whole. They do not hold ‘Principal’ practising certificates (only I hold a Principal practising certificate).
Since launching Sunstone Legal in 2022, the firm and myself (and our senior lawyers personally) have been recognised:

Principal Solicitor - Wills & Estates

I love all things wills and estates. I found this passion after initially starting lawyer life as a family lawyer.
I believe a Will is one of the most important documents you will ever sign and it is important to get it right, whether you have simple or complicated family/business structures.
My aim is to help make those awkward conversations easier in planning for the future and to take away some of the stress in dealing with the legal aspects during an extremely difficult time following the death of a loved one.
My greatest job satisfaction comes when my clients’ work is done, seeing the look of relief on their faces knowing that they have their affairs in order.

Law Graduate (a.k.a. Future Lawyer)
Juris Doctor (JD), Bachelor of Business (majoring in Accounting and Business Law)
admin@sunstonelegal.com.au
I am a Law Graduate at Sunstone Legal having started as a Paralegal in 2024.
I completed my Postgraduate Juris Doctor degree at the University of Western Australia in 2024. My undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Business at Murdoch University majoring in Accounting and Business Law.
I am currently undertaking my Practical Legal Training at the College of Law in anticipation of getting admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia at the end of the year.
I am passionate about Wills, Estates and Succession Planning because I get to help everyday people navigate their estate planning which can be confronting and difficult at times. I get to be a voice for people who are vulnerable, lost or overwhelmed in dealing with their deceased loved one’s estate and finding positive outcomes in the hopes of alleviating any unwanted stress during this difficult time.
I enjoy getting to know clients and better understand their family relationships and values and finding the best solutions to cater for them given no two families are the same.
I enjoy the variety and the challenges that comes with this field. It fuels my passion and drive, and it is truly a pleasure knowing that I get to make a difference in someone's life whether big or small.
